Essential Protection Beyond Our Standard Inspection
Important Note: Fancy Fox Property Inspections does not perform sewer scopes, nor do we collect payment for them. However, we consider this inspection so vital that we can arrange a trusted third-party specialist to meet us on-site for your convenience.
What is a Sewer Scope?
A Sewer Scope is a specialized video inspection of the lateral sewer line—the buried pipe connecting the house to the city main or septic tank. This line is the homeowner’s responsibility, yet it is buried underground and cannot be seen during a standard home inspection.
Why You Need One (Even on New Homes)
We strongly advise all our clients to hire a third-party specialist for this service. Without it, you are buying the home “blind” to potential underground disasters.
-
The Risk: Repairing a collapsed or root-filled sewer line typically costs between $5,000 and $20,000.
-
The Reality: Standard home inspections cover the plumbing visible inside the home. We cannot see what is happening underground.
-
The Solution: A specialized camera inspection is the only way to verify the condition of the pipe before you close.
